I’m the founder of Tagstr, a revolutionary social media network which focuses on your interests, allowing you to explore outside of your closed group of friends and followers. The platform has been fully developed in the UK by our team in Cheltenham and is available on the App Store and Web. Tagstr is fully backed by a number of international angel investors with two seed rounds completed and plans for a Series A round later in 2015. Since its launch in July 2014 it has been featured in a number of publications including Forbes, The Huffington Post, Engadget and The Guardian.
Ok, so here’s a little bit about me, my background and how my experiences led me to start Tagstr.
I am an entrepreneur and user interface designer with experience in web/mobile markets including, games, blogs, enterprise, social networks and web utilities. My passion for design leads me to concentrate on every aspect of a project, from pixel perfect design to unique user experiences. I experienced my first taste as an entrepreneur when I was just 12 years old, when I started a "Chicken Farm". This consisted of buying day old chicks, rearing them and then selling their eggs to local shops and restaurants. This grew from just 100 laying hens in a backyard shed to 2,500 hens in three specially built houses. I couldn’t stop there so in addition to this, when I was 16 I started a mobile DJ business and imported smartphones into the African country where I was living.
In 2010 I moved back to the UK and started a number of technology related businesses. My first venture was developing and selling simple iOS games which planted the foundations for later creating two iOS app review sites "HotMacApps.com & TheAppReviewer.com" and a number of popular iOS games including; "Piggy Bounce & Santa Bounce". These experiences gave me incredible exposure to the latest app and user interfaces. I then started work as a freelance graphic designer specialising in mobile & web design. This also led on to consultancy roles for enterprise mobile and web solutions.
